Kelsea Ballerini seemed to strut away from Wednesday’s CMA Awards high and mighty.

Her performance of “Hole in the Bottle” was the show stopping event everyone kept talking about. Wearing a top hat and fierce pants suite, any fan would have thought she was carrying the big MO (motivation) though every part of the night. But it turns out the singer experienced a pretty embarrassing moment backstage.

“People often ask for my most embarrassing story, and I have a new one,” Kelsea tweeted out after the show. “While sipping some wine last night after the CMAs, somehow the glass shattered IN MY MOUTH, cutting my lip, all in front of Miranda Lambert. 2020 keeping me humble y’all. 🍷💀🤦🏼‍♀️” The scary mishap wasn’t so much embarrassing, as concerning for the Country star. Girl, you cut your lip on glass! No shame in that!

Ballerini stans came to the rescue and commented with their own personal moments of embarrassment:

Despite the wine glass mishap, it was a good night for Ballerini. She wasn’t even scheduled to perform Wednesday before Tyler Hubbard tested positive for COVID-19, forcing Florida Georgia Line to cancel. The 27-year-old has been busy during COVID quarantine, releasing her third studio album kelsea, back in March. Six months later, she stripped down the tracks and released the raw album, balllerini.

Kelsea wasn’t nominated this year, but she walked away with a great performance and memorable story.
