EXCLUSIVE: John K on Working With Kelsea Ballerini and His New Song 'Wasted Summer'

You’re about to hear a lot more about John K in 2020. The singer release his debut EP, if we never met, last year – but in the past month he’s been busy with a remix to the title track with Kelsea Ballerini and today he drops another new song with teamwork. and the duo Loote.

After offering a preview of his style last year, John K is ready to enter all the way into the Pop world, working with some music heavyweights out of the gate.

“I’m so excited about the Kelsea Ballerini remix of ‘if we never met,’” he tells RADIO.COM. The Country star brings her own unique voice to the song, and proves a perfect counterpart for John K. “It’s equally as special, and to have an artist like her, who I feel like has done it the right way – organically. She’s beloved by her fans, she’s respected by the industry, and she connected to the song in her own way.”

“She wrote her version into the song, and so that’s a really really special moment for me,” he adds.

The mid-tempo duet is a beautiful blend of voices, and a different shade of John K’s talents compared to the just released “Wasted Summer.” Along with the production duo of teamwork. and Loote, John K finds his place in the dance track. “It’s more uptempo, it’s Pop. It’s kind of that summer jam,” he says of the song.

John K tells us he’s “very confident” that his debut album is coming this year, still with a long list of people he would love to work with. “If me and Ed Sheeran get in a room I’m pretty sure it’s going to be a smash,” he smiles. “Ed, what up? Let’s make that happen.”
