Haunted House Will Pay You $20,000 If You Can Finish It

October 24, 2019

You can make some serious coin being terrified this Halloween.

A haunted house in Tennessee is offering $20K to anyone who can complete its bone-chilling torture tour, according to Fast Company.

But before you can willingly embark on the frightful - and possibly lucrative - journey there are few requirements which prove that McKamey Manor is no ordinary Halloween horror attraction.

All participants must complete a “sports physical,” submit a letter from a doctor saying you are physically and mentally cleared, pass a background check, get pre-screened via Facebook or Facetime, show proof that you have medical insurance and sign a 40-page waiver.

Once you meet all those regulations, you’ll also need to pass a portable drug test on the day of your visit and create a safe word. How does “hell no!” sound?

If you’re still interested, you should also know that McKamey Manor is so extreme that no one has ever actually finished the tour. Hence, they’ve never had to pay out the five figure check.

In order to try and score the prize money visitors may be force-fed, blindfolded, verbally berated, buried in mud or other confined spaces, exposed to bugs and roaches, and even be subjected to the impression of being drowned.

The official website also warns of “intense audio, lighting, extreme low visibility, strobe and fog effects, damp and wet conditions, physically demanding environments, close contact with creatures (you might be touched), very real and graphic scenes of horror.”

For legal reasons, the entire experience is videotaped and can last between four and seven hours. On the plus side, it doesn’t cost any money to have the fear of death instilled in your psyche, instead guests are asked to bring a can of dog food for the owner’s five dogs.  Somehow the thought of hungry hounds doesn’t sound very comforting.

If none of this dissuades you from taking the disturbing challenge, be aware there is currently a wait list of over 24,000 applicants. Horrifying indeed!
