Ariana Grande Honored After Being Scratched in the Eye by Lady Gaga

Potential pop artist beef averted

August 6, 2020

No need to panic. No animosity exists between Ariana Grande and Lady Gaga, after a new behind-the-scenes clip from the duo’s music video shoot for their single, “Rain on Me,” reveals that Gaga scratched Ari's eye.

"Lady Gaga scratched my eye!" Grande says. "It's an honor, I hope it scars." The latest episode of Gaga’s Instagram series GAGVISION catches the artists rolling around the rehearsal floor in hysterics. The Chromatica singer tries to pin Grande to the floor and apply ointment to the scratch. The artists end up on a chase that we hope ends in some treatment for Ariana.

Both pop stars lead the 2020 MTV VMA nomination field with nine each, including one co-nomination for Video of the Year for "Rain On Me." Gaga posted a loving message in the description of her IG video. "So @arianagrande and I wanted to share some of the fun we had making the video."

Gaga has made the most of an unorthodox year where the coronavirus has grounded artists from touring. Mother Monster scored her sixth number-one album on the Billboard chart with her new disc, Chromatica. Gaga previously reached the number one spot with the A Star Is Born soundtrack, and her 2016 album Joanne.

Meanwhile, Ariana Grande recently celebrated her 27th birthday with some Instagram posts showing off her dogs, new LA home, and most exciting of all, new real estate agent beau, Dalton Gomez.
