During her performance of “Halo” at Detroit’s Ford Field last night, Beyoncé paid her respects to recent victims of gun violence, dedicating “a song about love” to “all of the family members who lost family members in Florida.”
Over the weekend, 49 people were gunned down at Pulse, a gay club in Orlando. Last week, former Voice contestant and singer Christina Grimmie was killed in the same city. As national conversations about gun control, homophobia, terrorism and the 2016 elections reach a fever pitch, Bey’s comment was a sincere tribute to all of Orlando’s recent victims and their families.
