Newlywed Hayley Williams got a bit emotional during Paramore‘s third night of Parahoy, the band’s music-filled cruise which also features Chvrches.
Paramore has undergone significant changes since original members Josh and Zac Ferro left in 2010, and bassist Jeremy Davis announced his departure in late 2015.
Speaking to the gathered crowd on March 7th, Williams said the band’s next album was coming, but it could take some time. “We’ve been–to be honest–a lot slower than I thought we would be,” she said. “Sometimes life happens. I took a Twitter break. It was great; you should try it some time. We’re gonna go on and make a record for ya. We’ll keep you posted” (via Billboard).
She admitted how difficult the past year had been on her, but shared, “At the same time, I would do it again if it meant understanding what having a real friend in this life feels like,” referencing guitarist Taylor York, the band’s only remaining original member besides herself. She thanked him for his friendship, saying, “Taylor, thank you so much for being awesome.”
Because she was thankful for Taylor didn’t mean she snubbed Paramore’s former members. “It is an honor to play music with all the people that are here,” she said. “It’s been an honor to play music with Josh, with Zac, with Jeremy, everyone that’s ever played with Paramore. It’s such an honor, to have friendship and music rolled into one thing…only God can do that. I’m just glad it’s not over because I want to keep doing it.”
