Macy’s 4th of July Fireworks

Moving back to the East River, the Macy’s fireworks spectacular is ready to wow and amaze the city that never sleeps for its 38th year. With over 50,000 pounds of fireworks set to launch from the Brooklyn Bridge and three barges along the river, Macy’s isn’t pulling any punches.

Set to “The Star Spangled Banner,” the fireworks will be timed to be perfectly in tune with the song that turns 200 this year and will even feature a flag made of the exploding fireworks.

With the Macy’s fireworks moving back to the East River, New Jersey swept in to keep the Hudson River (and New Jerseyans) from feeling left out. With expectations of over 100,000 people attending the day will be filled with plenty of excitement, ranging from a cake by Buddy “Cake Boss” Valastro and an appearance by the Budweiser Clydesdales.

Staten Island Yankees at Richmond County Bank Ballpark, Staten Island

Don’t think we missed out on oft-forgotten borough Staten Island. Residents eager to stay close to home need not look farther than the SI Yankees Stadium. Set to go off after the game, Staten Islanders can enjoy the show from the stands or the promenade.

Or they can just turn their heads and check out what Macy’s and New Jersey has to offer.

Empire State Building

For those who think fireworks are just a bunch of lame exploding lights, take a peek at the Empire State Building at around 9pm. Anyone with a clear view of the skyscraper can check out the show that delighted fans last year when they coordinated an outstanding lightshow with a mix of two of New York’s anthems, Frankie Boy’s ‘New York, New York’ and ‘New York State Of Mind’ by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys.
