Taylor Swift debuted the music video for “Red” on July 3. “Red” is the title track of her latest album as well as the name of her current tour, and the video for the song offers fans a behind-the-scenes look at what happens nightly at a Taylor Swift concert.
The clip begins with screams from the crowd before the camera pans backstage, where Swift, her dancers and her band are in a huddle. She then erupts from the top of a staircase, as she does every night of her tour. As she grabs the mic center stage, the stadium of fans are heard singing along word for word.
During her performance earlier this year at Newark’s Prudential Center, Swift prefaced the song “Red” by explaining that she always compares her emotions to colors, and that there is one particular color she’s been utilizing in her songs: red.
“I have a theory that the ones that hurt you, these are the emotions that make us stronger and help you figure out who you are going to be some day, and in my mind those emotions are right,” she told the crowd that night.
