Cyndi Lauper‘s mantle is getting pretty crowded. There’s her two Grammy Awards, including Best New Artist in 1985, and her Emmy for a guest-starring role on Mad About You in 1995. And now, a Tony Award for her work on Broadway’s Kinky Boots.

At last night’s (June 9) Tony Awards the ’80s pop icon took home the award for Best Original Score.

“Girl, you’re going to have fun tonight!” Modern Family star Jesse Tyler Ferguson yelled while announcing Lauper’s victory. Watch the clip below.

The “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” singer was overtaken with emotion, breaking down into tears before she even rose from her seat and making her way to the stage at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

“I want to thank Broadway for welcoming me,” said Lauper in her thick, Queens accent. “This city… I understand how hard you work and I’ve never been a stranger to hard work. But your hard work inspires me.”

Lauper tweeted several pictures of herself and her Tony award later in the night.

Kinky Boots received 13 Tony nominations and took home six statues at the awards show, including Best Musical.
