3 Doors Down bassist, Robert Todd Harrell, was charged with vehicular homicide after a fatal crash in Nashville over the weekend.

According to CNN, Harrell reportedly clipped the pickup truck of 47-year-old Paul Howard Shoulders, Jr. on the night of April 19, sending the truck swerving out of control and down an embankment. The driver, who believed to not be wearing a seat belt, was killed after being thrown from his truck.

Police said Harrell showed signs of impairment at the scene of the accident and the bassist admitted that he had consumed hard cider and taken the prescription pills Lortab and Xanax.

According to the report from the Davidson County Sherriff’s Office, Harrell was also charged with bringing controlled substances into the jail after he was found with a plastic bag in his sock that contained 8 Xanax pills, 24 oxycodone pills and 4 oxymorphone pills.

This the musician’s second arrest in less than a year. In July 2012, Harrell was arrested on a DUI charge after failing to stop at an intersection and colliding with a pickup truck in southern Mississippi.

Harrell is currently being held on $100,000 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.

On April 20, the band released a statement through its site: “We are deeply saddened by the passing of Paul Howard Shoulders, Jr.  Our hearts and prayers go out to his family and friends at this difficult time.”

3 Doors Down were currently on a U.S. tour, but released a statement today (April 22) announcing that they will not play the four remaining shows of the trek “out of respect to Paul Howard Shoulders, Jr., and his family.”

As of now, the “Kryptonite” band will resume its tour in Moscow on May 31 before returning to the U.S. in July for a co-headlining tour with Daughtry.
