The weather outside might have been hot, but the ladies on the carpet were even hotter at last night’s 64th Annual Emmy Awards. The biggest stars in television walked the red carpet in their Sunday best strutting their stuff without breaking a sweat. While the silhouettes were classic, the trends ranged from bold neons to sparkly floorlength gowns to bright jewel tones. And there was only one major wardrobe malfunction of the night (that we know of).
Claire Danes, who won for Homeland, covered up her baby bump in a neon yellow Lanvin gown and had some of the best arm candy in hubby Hugh Dancy, who stayed classic for his wife’s big night.

(ROBYN BECK/AFP/GettyImages) Kat Dennings (2 Broke Girls) kept things simple in a deep red gown by J. Mendel but wasn’t afraid to show off her best assets. Somehow she also managed to make it down the carpet without experiencing a wardrobe malfunction. (Kevork Djansezian/Getty Images) Kat Dennings with Nick Zano. Sofia Vergara wasn’t as lucky. The Modern Family star shimmered in her mermaid-inspired gown from Zuhair Murad, but the tight number couldn’t contain Sofia’s curves. Right before the show won for Best Comedy, her zipper broke exposing a little more than she had planned, which she tweeted for fans to check out. Luckily, an emergency team of seamstresses fixed the dress and the show went on as planned. (ROBYN BECK/AFP/GettyImages) Amy Poehler showed a little skin in a sparkly Stella McCartney for her first red carpet appearance since announcing her split with hubby, Will Arnett (Up All Night, Arrested Development.) As for that big blue rock on her left hand? Well, it wasn’t Harry Winston instead she went looking in her sons, Abel and Archie’s toy box and came back with the $2 adjustable ring. (ROBYN BECK/AFP/GettyImages) Kerry Washington, who recently appeared at the Democratic National Convention, also shined in her sequined Vivienne Westwood gown keeping her makeup and hair simple to show off her stunning cheekbones.
