President Barack Obama wowed the crowd at last night’s Apollo Theater fundraiser by spontaneously singing the first few lines of [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Al Green[/lastfm]’s classic “Let’s Stay Together.” Green had performed earlier in the evening.
Obama is not the first musically inclined president – Clinton had his sax, Nixon and Truman played piano, Wilson played the violin, John Adams played the flute and Jefferson was a multi-instrumentalist serving up tunes on cello, clavichord and violin. And lest we forget the 21st president, Chester A. Arthur who totally rocked the banjo.
We’re thinking that Obama could be the first president to take his singing career to the next level.
Sure he can stick to the classics, but wouldn’t it be interesting if he packed his set with some of today’s hottest jams?
We know one thing, the Leader of the Free World should stay away from covering [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Ke$ha[/lastfm]’s “Tik Tok”. That just makes us feel funny inside. But [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]LMFAO[/lastfm]’s “Party Rock” would be a brilliant start.
“Party Barack is in the house tonight!” Now that’s a national anthem!
Fresh 102.7’s Dylan says he’d like “the idea of The Barack Keys. The President could rock ‘Lonely Boy’ for sure!”
And Karen Carson says: “I want to see The President break it down with a Beiber song: “Never Say Never!” He’s got to know the song… His daughters love the Biebz and it would be too funny to hear him try and hit those notes!”
Maze said “I don’t know why but, I really wanna hear him throw down a round of ‘Moves Like Jagger’ OR…The new Train song ‘Drive By’ simply because we, the American people, need to hear that Obama has a ‘Hefty bag full of LOVE’ for us!”
Christine says “I’d like to see if he’s a double threat… I want him to show off his dance moves while he belts out, Moves Like Jagger from Maroon 5. I think that would at least be hilarious to watch.”
