Last week, First Lady Michelle Obama was spotted at a Target store in Alexandria, Virginia wearing her “street clothes,” a baseball cap and sunglasses.
Jim & Kim got in touch with Marie, the manager of the Target store to ask her about the experience. Click ahead to hear what she had to say!The First Lady was in the store for approximately 40 minutes, accompanied by only one aide. The Secret Service reportedly swept the perimeter and interior of the Target prior to Mrs. Obama’s arrival. An unconfirmed report indicated that the First Lady purchased household cleaning supplies and dog food for the Obama’s family pet, Bo.
In a statement on Friday, Mrs. Obama’s communications chief, Kristina Schake, said, “It is not uncommon for the First Lady to slip out to run an errand, eat at a local restaurant or otherwise enjoy the city outside the White House gates.”
Some are speculating about the sincerity of this shopping trip, claiming that Mrs. Obama is simply trying to perpetuate the image of her as a typical mother of two with this PR stunt, buying household cleaners and pet supplies. But either way, could you imagine standing in line at Target behind the First Lady!?
