To commemorate the 10th anniversary of 9/11, State Farm insurance partnered with famed director Spike Lee to film a tribute to thank the heroes of New York. Nearly 150 school children (ages 8-11) from the New York City area visited four firehouses to thank the firefighters and sing the [lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Jay-Z[/lastfm]/[lastfm link_type=”artist_info”]Alicia Keys[/lastfm] song “Empire State of Mind.”

This is SO touching! The firehouse doors open and the kids sing to the firefighters… lots of hugging and tears!

State Farm’s YouTube page also includes extras with the children and firemen, who share their thoughts about the city and the attack on the World Trade Center a decade ago.

The students’ performance is available for download for 99 cents. Proceeds will benefit the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation. State Farm has a long-standing partnership with NFFF… The company has donated $2 million to the NFFF since Sept. 11, 2001.
