I remember the days after September 11th, 2001.  Great sadness, agony, and fear.  Mixed in with that was anger.  Nobody wanted to laugh or be happy.  It was tough.  However, the president, and the mayor of New York insisted that we try to get back to some sense of normalcy, or it would seem as if the terrorists had won.

We as Americans were going to show the world that we would be alright, and stand proud again.

I also remember the first night that any talk show returned to the television air waves…

CBS television’s David Letterman was the first one who would step out and pave the way for everyone else. I have always been a huge Letterman fan, and was proud of him for taking that first step, and am proud to be working for the same company as he does now.

Here’s the video of that first broadcast from New York. It’s still as powerful today as it was that night.
