Apparently “General Hospital” and “One Life to Live” will live on… but in Cyberspace! After the ABC network cancelled both shows for monetary reasons, it’s being reported that the media firm “Prospect Park” will continue the soaps on the web, and promise to use the same story lines, cast and crew; including Susan Lucci.

The final episode of “All My Children” will air on September 23rd and One Life to Live is slated to end in January 2012.

While I haven’t watched a soap since I was a teenager, I am sad these shows from my childhood are ending! I also feel bad for the older and longtime fans, some of whom do not have online access…

Then again, YouTube already has thousands of soap opera clips. The site also has an impressive collection of goofy theme-songs, my favorite being the intense photo-album-inspired All My Children intro:
