Fleet Week 2011 arrives!  Be on the look-out for thousands of sailors, marines and coast-guardsmen as they arrive on the west side, starting at 8:30 this morning!  Check out the full details in today’s What’s Fresh Around Town!

1. Fleet Week 2011 is officially here!

Thousands of Sailors, Marines and Coast Guardsmen from U.S. Navy and U.S. Coast Guard ships have come to NYC nearly every year since 1984. The week features extensive military demonstrations, as well as the opportunity for the public to tour some of the visiting ships. 2. Jimmy Fallon @ Barnes & Noble

Barnes and Noble Union Square will be hosting Jimmy Fallon tonight who has a brand new book entitled “Thank-You Notes.” Jimmy will be interviewed and will be joined by members from his house band, The Roots at 7 p.m.

3. TimesTalks with James McAvoy

TimesTalks holds another event tonight with James McAvoy!  The critically acclaimed Golden Globe-nominated Scottish actor will talk about his career and some of the diverse roles he’s played, including his latest, “The Conspirator,” and – coming soon—as the young Charles Xavier years before he became Professor X in the highly anticipated “X-Men: First Class.” That’s at 7:30 p.m. at the TimesCenter.

4. Sports!

And in sports, the Yankees are playing the Blue Jays at 1:05pm.
